Girls' Generation is the debut Japanese album (third overall) Girls' Generation (Japanese: Shōjo Jidai), released on June 1, 2011 in Japan under Nayutawave Records. The album was originally released in three different editions. A repackaged edition of the album will be released on December 28, 2011.
On May 16, eight months after their Japanese debut in September, 2010, Girls' Generation finally revealed their first Japanese album titled Girls' Generation, with the tracklist made available soon after.
The tracks "Mr. Taxi" and "Let It Rain" were used as the background music for various versions of Girls' Generation's CM with Lipton Tea
The album was originally released in three different editions: Deluxe First Press Edition, Limited Period Edition, and the Regular Edition. A repackaged Edition was released later.
The Deluxe First Press Edition contains the CD album, special box, special mini bag, Deluxe Edition 40-page photobook, Deluxe Edition poster, and a DVD containing the Mr. Taxi original music video and a dance version of Mr. Taxi music video, as well as both Genie and Gee Japanese music videos.
The Limited Period Edition contains the CD album, Limited Edition 32-page photobook, Limited Edition poster, and a DVD containing the Mr.Taxi original music video, as well as both Genie and Gee Japanese music videos.
The Regular Edition of Girls' Generation contains only the CD album itself.
The Repackaged Edition will feature a Japanese remake of "The Boys", a new song titled "Time Machine", and three remixes of "Mr. Taxi", "The Great Escape", and "Bad Girl" repectively, with "Bad Girl" featuring Dev and the Cataracs. A DVD will also be included, containing an English version of "The Boys" music video and a music video for "Bad Girl".
